Simplifying payments with pay at table

November 16, 2022

Waiting at the end of a meal to pay the bill is one of the biggest pain points for both customers and restaurant staff. The last thing a customer wants is to wait around to pay once the meal has finished, which can cause frustration and a negative end to their experience.

Pepper’s new pay at table solution means guests no longer have to wait for the server to bring the check, then come back with the payment terminal, process payment and print the receipt - a process that can take up to 15 minutes in a busy restaurant.

Staff continue to take guests’ orders as in a traditional restaurant service model, but with pay at table, customers who are ready to leave simply scan a QR code at the end of their meal to view, split and pay their bill straight from their phone.

Large tables splitting the bill is one of the more time consuming tasks front of house staff have to perform and often during peak service periods. Pay at table takes the hassle out of payments - allowing groups to split the bill on their smartphone by percentage or custom amount. Payment options include credit card, as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay for an even swifter payment journey.

Our solution saves staff time and means faster tables turn, as well as also leading to an increase in tips; as happy customers have the freedom to pay and leave whenever they are ready - without any hold-ups.

Mobile ordering can be a seamless solution for many hospitality businesses, but it isn’t suited to every restaurant. Pay at table offers a new form of payment for those venues that still favour a traditional way of ordering, but are looking for a way to streamline their operation and elevate the customer experience.

The solution displays one simple checkout screen to customers, so that they can view gifting, tipping, rewards and payment all in one place, while the ‘expand view’ also allows customers to view their full order on the screen. This allows a smooth and efficient payment journey for guests, and helps to avoid the frustrations with traditional long-winded payment.

With pay at table, service staff are freed from the time-consuming payment task and can focus instead on providing the best possible customer service and a better overall hospitality experience to their guests.

It’s a win - win!
